AgriFood Education Council Concept (AFEC)
A key component to the success of the Texas AgriFood Master Program is to establish and involve AgriFood Education Councils in local communities. These councils, comprised of key community leaders and executives from agribusiness, medical, media, education, research, and food and textile industies, foster credibility, create visibility and exhibit grassroots integrity strengthening the texas AgriFood Masters and local Extension programs. The AgriFood Education Council provides leadership as a non-profit organization to foster a base of financial support for the TAM program. The AgriFood Education Council is not an Extension committee. The Council functions as an independent entity which allows unique access to funding opportunities and offers grassroots credibility to urban agricultural education.
