Directed Studies
|
The University Catalog describes Directed Studies courses as follows:
“Directed individual study of a selected problem in the field of agricultural or
extension education with emphasis on collection, analysis and presentation of information.”
The prerequisites for enrolling in a Directed Studies course are permission of the
instructor who will direct the study, approval of the department head, and at least
junior classification.
It is further understood that:
- Individual consultation and agreement between the student and faculty director of
the directed study about the nature and conduct of a Directed Studies course will
precede the student’s registering for a Directed Studies course. Variable credit
(1-3 credit hours) may be given, depending upon the size and scope of the project.
- To register for a Directed Studies or Graduate Internship, please click the link
below to complete the registration form. After filling in all fields, print a copy
and turn it in to Ms. Charlene Boggus, Secretary for Undergraduate Programs(ALED
& AGCJ), or Jovonna Ivester, (AGSC). The student should retain
a copy of the registration form for their records. The course will be added to the
student’s schedule during Open Registration.
- The final, written report or product submitted by the student will be graded by
the faculty director of the directed study and a copy filed in the department.
- Although clock hours are not absolute or limiting, a general guideline is to work
approximately 45 clock hours for each semester hour of credit being sought for a
Directed Studies course.
- Deviations from the above conditions require approval of the Undergraduate or Graduate
Curriculum Committee.
