Substituting Courses
Some courses taken at community/junior colleges do not transfer to Texas A&M as equivalent courses. These courses transfer by title only and may be substituted if a similar course at Texas A&M can be found. To see if a course can be substituted for a Texas A&M course, consult your academic advisor. It is be helpful if you can bring the syllabus or course description from the community college’s catalog. The advisor will complete a Substitution Request Form and submit it to the proper office. Note that it is more difficult to get a course that transferred by title substituted for a Core Curriculum class than a general elective. Before taking a course at a community/junior college, consult the Texas Common Course Number (TCCN) directory in the back of your Texas A&M Catalog to see if the course you are planning to take will transfer as an equivalent course.
